Red raspberry leaf is known to make delicious teas that improve hormonal balance, reduce menstrual cramps, prepare the uterus for childbirth, and induce labor. Red raspberry leaf is high in antioxidants and nutrients such as potassium, calcium, vitamins A, C, and E, and iron. It is also a powerful diuretic and can reduce bloating and constipation.
Red raspberry can be found throughout the US and Canada growing in open forests, often near water or fields. When the plant is flowering, red raspberry can be identified by its small, red berries. It is best to harvest the leaves prior to blooming, and can be identified by the bristling stalk and alternating green leaves. Using cloves or scissors to protect your hands from the bristles, harvest the leaves for drying.
